All wonderful comments; thank you. Your light-hearted feedback lets me know that you accept my post in the spirit in which I write it: expressing frustration and a healthy dose of head-scratching "What the ...??" but without malice. I don't understand this business model and never will but I do adore visiting Net Shack for their good cappuccinos and friendly vibe.

Interestingly, here in Barbados, even a business model that makes me want to tear my hair out can coexist easily with a friendly vibe. It's part of the wonder of this very special corner of the world.

Again, thank you all. I appreciate your writing. (No penalties for grammar mishaps! Happens to us all, even when a rum punch is not involved.)

Hi Jane ~ We're we simultaneously writing about Net Shack?! Me happily, and you, not so. I felt silly after I subsequently read your post, though we never saw the dark side :) Only went for coffee, not movies. Does seem odd. Maybe they'll come around one day, after you drink lots of lattes!
The woman and her son, who I presumed were the owners, were so nice to us. Sat down at our table to chat and, at my asking, suggested places to go and how to get there.
Or...perhaps this is a new business opp for you!

This is such a typical Barbados story, you have to shrug and laugh. Nicely skewered, Janie!

You're quite pissed off to say the least. At least you haven't 'banned' the shop completely and hold a grudge (like we do Mamma Mia, the food place not the movie) 'cos you still get your coffee there!
